Margaux, that is! Imagine this – a stunning, terraced hilltop estate, set in the famed Margaux region of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, situated atop gravelly soils, with a full 360-degree panoramic view over Bordeaux, and the perfect little lookout spot that gives you a peek at the ICONIC Château Margaux just a stone’s throw away – are…you…with…me? It’s CAB-LOVER’S heaven, basically, and this “Vineyards of the Four Winds” is St. Peter’s gate. 95 POINTS! UNDER $30 – and you simply will not, can not find this MARGAUX gem anywhere else!
We brought over EVERY. SINGLE. BOTTLE allocated to the U.S.A. – and if I had two wishes in life (still butt-hurt that I didn’t draw the 1.8 billion Powerball…anyways…), ONE of those wishes would be that we got MORE of this! Everything you could want in a Margaux – minus the 3 or 4 digit price tag. Inky dark, mysteriously brooding, and filled with cedar, crushed rose petals, and heady violets that go pop, pop, POP! Molten chocolate GUSHES in, then berry liqueur, and black cherries, strawberries, and blueberries. YES! There’s an almost dragonfruit or hibiscus flower tropical note that uplifts this seamlessly in the mid-palate from powerful to pretty – with a silky smooth finish like butterscotch candies – and percolating with spice notes of graphite, clove, and bay leaf. WOWZA! Crazy polished and pristinely layered…an utterly CLASSIC Margaux for a decidedly un-Margaux price!!!
The property has been fully-revamped in this century, renaming the old Château Arnaud Blanc estate that was the sister winery of Château Malescot-Saint-Exupéry back in the late 19th century. The vineyards are immaculate, environmentally responsible, and just straight-up PUMPING out fantastic parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. This blend is 50% Cab, then 45% Merlot, and finally 5% Petit – and it is STELLAR! Explodes out the bottle and is ready to go in two minutes flat – but with the sort of structure, depth, and intense complexity to work absolute MAGIC for the next decade plus. Trust me when I say, we DO NOT have enough – I can’t even remember the last time we scored 95 point MARGAUX for such a crazy low price!
