Timbre Winery Pinot Noir The Rhythm Riverbench Vineyard Santa Maria Valley 2021

Timbre Winery Pinot Noir The Rhythm Riverbench Vineyard Santa Maria Valley 2021

Miss the Chacra? We are always in pursuit of great pinot noir at earth-shattering prices! How about 94 POINT “impeccably balanced, understated” pinot noir? That is the Jerry Maguire equivalent of “You had me at hello” in my book, and we got it for WAY UNDER $30!!! Let’s go!!!

Musicians in da house? Then you know what “Timbre” means.

Don’t know? Welp, then just focus on this utterly entrancing, 94 POINT bottle of PINOT NOIR love from the slammin’ good 2021 vintage instead! When Antonio Galloni proclaims “This is classic Santa Maria Pinot” – you’d best believe I’m listening! Such a statement would have me dreaming of Bien Nacido – but these 50+ year old vines at Riverbench vineyard only a cricket’s leap down valley are every bit as deserving for a spot in your Cali-pinot dreams!

Even cooler than Bien Nacido, this ancient seafloor sports a mix of Pommard and Martini clones of pinot noir, and that creepily-close and constant heavy breathing from the Pacific make for one of the best spots in Cali to grow cool, ethereal, elegant styles of pinot noir. This beauty is awash in cranberry tea, and raspberries, with accents of lavender, eucalyptus, pine, and tomato leaf, finishing off with woodsy nature-walk sensations of cedar, allspice, and wild spearmint. It’s bright and searingly fresh, with a spicy, earthy depth, and both fiercely intense and delicately understated at the same time. Laser-focused and penetrating pinot noir doing the sort of hard to explain, impossible-to-justify magical dance that makes this so very compelling! All for OVER 67% OFF?!?!

(Ok, ok…if you simply MUST know – Timbre means “the characteristic quality of a sound, independent of pitch and loudness, from which its source or manner of production can be inferred.”).

Ah, but musicianship aside...WOW! Winemaker Josh Klapper tasted a 1945 Chateau Latour ($7K? $10K a bottle?) back in 2005 and well, that was it. His epiphany moment struck him to the core and he became a sommelier before moving into winemaking under the steady hand of the legendary Bob Lindquist of QUPE. Anyway, through serendipity, patience, and some truly wicked negotiating...look at this!! Shockingly good for our simply insane price! Drink well, people, but jump on it as soon as you can – I said 94 POINTS, right? Madness! While we have it….
