Tenuta Carretta Bric Paradiso Riserva Roero 2016

Tenuta Carretta Bric Paradiso Riserva Roero 2016

GOOD PEOPLE.

YOU. Do you want to pay $80 $150, $500 for world-class Nebbiolo from the lord-knows-you’ve-heard-us-crow-about-it 2016 vintage? No? How about TWENTY-NINE, we know, poof, not happening right? It is. The rickrollingly fine new release from Tenuta Carretta is the G.O.A.T. from this winery just outside the Nutella-soaked town of Alba (really, the factory is there) in northern Piedmont, land of Barolo/Barbaresco and all sorts of white truffle-infused majick…

….ah but sadly so much less than normal…such is the wine biz…

Seriously, if you can pick this beauty blind out of a line-up with Barolos and Barbarescos, you should probably come work for us… or at least get your sommelier credentials. This wine absolutely PUURRRS, then takes out an original pressing of Dark Side of the Moon and blows your mind.  Crushed rose petals, black tea, warm black cherries and blackened spices… one taste has me absolutely shook like my panda cub just sneezed. Phenomenal wine now, but you can just tell as this swirls in the glass and fills the room that it’s got DECADES.

Did you know? In 2017, Tenuta Carretta celebrated an astonishing 550 YEARS of history (that’s 1467 if you don’t want to do the math) in this very special spot that Bric Paradiso represents. The vineyard was established in 1878 and today is part of an extraordinary territory that was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 2014. The 35 hectares plot that extends like an amphitheater around the winery includes the vines for Bric Paradiso.

We’re, like, super-proud of our relationship with this historic winery. GET THIS good peeps, for real. While it lasts, that is…
