TWENTY-FIVE years young, the dawn of a new millennium, crafted during a magical moment in history when flip-phones ruled the earth, cat-scratch jeans charged you extra for the rips and tears, and frosted-tips served as the pinnacle of men’s fashion. What a time to be alive! And yet, on the forested slopes of the Spring Mountain District – a mythical project took shape. The best Bordeaux grapes, from over 800 acres of legendary vineyard land, hand-picked from a staggering array of elevations, exposures, clones, rootstocks, and more – and blended with ageability and elegance in mind. I give you…ELIVETTE!!!Â
Fly. Just…FLY!!! We sprinted through our stash of regular-sized bottles on Black Friday…and there are way, WAY fewer of these bad boys. Even more youthful thanks to the magic aging capabilities of magnums, but still showcasing those entrancing characteristics of dusty, roasted like rosemary, marjoram, and thyme, then these succulent red cherry sensations, followed by blackberries, and plums, with red currants, some fig jam…YES!!! The finish is all graphite and smoky iron, with this juicy and savory meatiness…so, so good! For 25 years young, this is still RIDICULOUSLY fresh, taut, and definitely capable of several more years in the cellar. And the PRICE? 95 POINTS, too?!
C’mon. $109 for living, breathing HISTORY?! You’re gonna want some of this…you’re gonna want A LOT, actually. Better move FAST…this might already be gone.
