In the few short years under Roberto Giannelli leadership, the estate has absolutely transformed. Super consultant and Tuscan LEGEND Paolo Caciorgna guides the winemaking, with the day-to-day under the watchful gaze of young phenom Thomas Bianciardi. We featured their stunning Le Lucére bottling several months back, and those of you that snagged a bottle or two already know – this is some serious Brunello MAGIC! Way under $50 on a 94 point gem like this addles the frontal lobe…for THIS?!
Tastes like an $80 bottle – easy! Lavender, and SOOO much cherry, then rooibos tea, with cinnamon, dried oranges, with a chalky, sun-baked clay, and fresh rosemary, and…AND! That lush and plush note of blackberry syrup, with a twist of exotic dragonfruit, maybe a vigor-inducing dash of açaĂ… just…AAAAaaaaaahhhhh! This is pure, liquid pleasure – and the unquestioned answer to Bad Marriage’s Who’s Ready to ROCK?! Vibrant, but powerful, with a core of bright, red fruits, and the firm grip of a circus strongman – this is how you do BRUNELLO!Â
We popped in for a couple nights last year and the vineyards are stunning. Roberto kickstarted a full-scale renovation when he purchased the property, from the production facility, to the tasting lounge, and even a handful of bedrooms, overlooking the pool and wood-fired pizza oven…this place is heaven on earth!!!! Take me back! Having this at the BEST price anywhere on this planet is a proud papa moment for this grizzled, old wine-slinger…but we just don’t have enough!!! 94 POINTS and sure to fly!!!Â

**I gotta give a shout out to Thomas Bianciardi here – San Filippo had the most immaculate, spotlessly clean cellar and winery space I’ve yet seen in Italy. It reminded me of a few 3-Michelin-star kitchens – attention to detail, pride, and accountability is a good foundation for making world-class fruit the very best it can be! Plus…he just followed me back on IG…so I am officially cooler than I was yesterday.**
