It simply ROCKS – that round and toasty hedonistic depth, with unctuous and creamy notes of lemon meringue, and Tahitian vanilla cream, then Galaxy peaches, and mandarin orange segments, with this tremendous spice character that runs the gamut from cinnamon, to cardamom, to nutmeg, with this gorgeous and bright vein of flinty, icy cool river rocks and Meyer lemon. Wowza! The good folks at Mount Eden only make this RESERVE Chardonnay in years of exceptional potential – using 30-year-old vines, and extra aging on the lees, to give this tightly wound and impressively structured beauty the full WHITE BURGUNDY treatment. Jeb Dunnuck gives this 20-30 YEARS of aging potential, and while I’m sticking to a more modest 15+...there is no doubt, this is as collectible a California Chardonnay as you’ll see…ANYWHERE!
