Marston Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District Napa Valley 2018
96+ POINTS! Napa’s absolutely ICONIC 2018 vintage (considered to be amongst the greatest EVER), and we’ve got this big, BOLD, baddie for a whopping 70+% OFF!
Say…WHAT?!?! Marston Family is in da HOUSE! And then they burned it down, rebuilt it from sexy oak, majestic boulders of granite, and away…we…GOOOOO! Let me ground you in history for a quick sec… This family-run property has been growing ultra-premium grapes since the late 70’s, when it was a TOP-SECRET source for two of Napa’s most ICONIC winemakers – André Tchelistcheff and Philip Togni! Then, the late great Bohemian revolutionary Sean Thackrey used 100+ year-old Petite Sirah from this site to craft his 1992 Sirius red that was awarded “Best Red Wine in the World”...so yeah, this site has been STELLAR for a while now, my friends. Once the Marston’s started bottling their own wines, things didn’t miss a beat – first with rockstar winemaker Philippe Melka at the helm, then Sierra Leone native, Marbue Marke. (Caldwell, Italics, many more!)
If you’re still thinking that “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn”...then how’s about this little tidbit? Clark FREAKIN’ Gable! This legend of the silver screen got married on the property just after WWII, and apparently spent his honeymoon riding tractors, drinking whiskey sours, and shooting rifles into the wee hours with his new bride. So yeah – even if this wasn’t such a stunning and MAJECTIC embodiment of world-class Napa Cab…this would still be cool.
But man-oh-man…does this ever ROCK! Heady, toasty, opulent, and certainly NOT FOR THE SHY! But the years have revealed the inherent elegance of this Spring Mountain GEM, with violets, and Damascus plum, vanilla bean, and Luxardo cherries galore. Each sip builds and lingers impressively upon the last – structure for days, but each greedy gulp brings out more layers of blackberry, and blueberry, with chocolate truffles, and pomegranate molasses, spicebox notes of clove and cardamom, and little flecks of crushed granite intensity along the way. Powerful aromatics, powerful fruit, powerful finish. For OVER $140 BELOW the winery price!!!
I say again…96+ POINTS, and over 70% OFF! Get a whole lot of this – and you won’t ever regret it!
While it lasts!Â
