This is an all-time Last Bottle mega-fave with a madly passionate, bordering on cult-ish, subset of wine and happiness loving die-hards across the country – including a certain Stanley Cup champion that keeps this stocked like milk, or eggs. Picpoul is a white grape grown in Pinet, a region in the Languedoc Roussillon area of southern France, and only a mile from the Mediterranean Sea. Here, Picpoul is consumed like water, and nearly every family will have a bottle open at all times, all year long…basically, anytime the sun is shining – this wine is ready to rock! Grown on ancient oyster beds – this is exuberant, hyper-fresh, crisper than frozen Romaine lettuce, and simply all kinds of delish. Crunchy oyster shells, scintillating lemon, and pink grapefruit, then honeydew melon, then more lemon, a kiss of lime, even a rounding flourish of pink lady apples and crunchy Korean pears! Just a vibrant, electric zip, and spine-jarring intensity! The texture is round and fleshy so the uber-bright acidity never hits you jagged or raw. BONE DRY too! Just PERFECT!
