The Housley family has been at this for a while, with Napa vineyards under their (green) thumb for over 40 years. In 2000, they set up Century Oak Winery in the heart of the Mokelumne River AVA, near Lodi. The loamy, alluvial soils are pristine for retaining moisture, allowing vines to thrive for up to a century. When the family purchased the vineyard in 1990, they completely revamped the property, dropping the yields by 40% to increase concentration and flavors. Throw in 18 months aging in all new French oak barrels, and the result is one of the best âdaily drinkerâ Cali-Cabs youâll find!
