Hibou Pinot Noir Anderson Valley 2020
Over 50% OFF! This owl is a HOOT! Pinot fans, Anderson Valley fans…HIBOU is back!
Special Last Bottle Edition of Super Bowl Sunday Funday! No less than 7 dips, three pizzas, a cooler full of bubbles and beer, a couple magnums of old Napa Cab…let’s do this! Some of you are gonna miss out, but those HARDCORE Pinot Purists are gonna SCORE today! UNDER $25! For this tiny stunningly DELISH Pinot from our neighbors to the north up in the wicked cool Pinot Valhalla that is the ANDERSON VALLEY! A tasty and tempting 94 POINTS score from the good folks at Decanter, to boot! Huzzah!!! If you’ve been paying attention – you know that we here at Last Bottle have become HIBOU FIENDS over the last year or so – and this is our biggest score yet! I drank two bottles of this back on Thanksgiving – and I’m thankful we scored another drop to replenish for 2025!
Get ready to be BLOWN AWAY by this elegant and complex Pinot from some of Mendo’s top plots in the gorgeous Anderson Valley. Beautifully fresh – dare I say, RACY – with a simply glorious sprinkling of winter-y, Christmas-y spices to shake off any chill. Some wildly layered herbs and forest notes, too…all bedazzling this marvelous core of intense berry and cherry goodness. Raspberries, cherries, some red currants, even some tart and boisterous elderberry accents – WOWZA! It’s big, but never heavy, with a thoughtful cinnamon, allspice, and clove headiness that flows through you with warmth like sitting a little too close to the fire. Don’t you just love that feeling? Anywho…this is delectable, powerful, immensely serious stuff at an almost laughable price!
Here's the quick scoop: meet Jason Driscoll – owner and winemaker on this small family project with his wife Hillary. He’s a C.I.A.-trained chef who did an internship in Napa Valley and fell in love with wine – and makes things in a classic, minimalistic, non-interventionist, completely thoughtful (and kinda cool) way. A micro-producer with access to killer fruit, and a winery every ethereal Pinot lover should add to their list…STAT! I said 94 POINTS, right?
My advice? Get A LOT. Costco mentality applies here, good people – so spend a little now to save a lot more later! And – BONUS – you get to nosh back all this wicked Pinot all winter, spring, and summer long! While it lasts!!! This baby will be gone by halftime, sports fans – lock up yours while it lasts!
** Did you know? Not far from these vineyards, you can take an old steamer train, through ancient redwood forests, at dusk, and ending in this pop-up style old barn in the middle of nowhere? You drink cocktails and wine all evening, dance to live music, play games, and then take the train back home! Pretty epic, right? Glen Blair Bar…check it out! **
