I can't get enough Cru Barolo, in general, but MANZONE!! One of the rockstars of the Monforte d’Alba and a looooooooong time Last Bottle mega-fave. This 94-POINTER will grace your cellar for DECADES, if you can hold off – serious, fine, ultra-pure Barolo….dang...stop it!! The Bricat parcel is a relative newcomer to the Manzone family. The one-hectare parcel borders their revered Gramolere vineyard and was owned by their neighbor Gigi Bricat until his death in the mid-90s. The Manzone family took on the vineyard and have been making this single plot as a standalone wine ever since. They revere the site for its production of soulful, complex, and elegantly powerful wines…just. Like. THIS! Utterly compelling at our price. 

These 2017s from Manzone are simply jaw-dropping – you all have heard us squawk on about the 2016 vintage (rightfully so,) but this release scored EVEN HIGHER!  The balance is just superb – every sip gives you something different, something unexpected…pomegranate tea, dried cherry, sweet black cherry, floral rose petals, and inky minerals with barely there hints of smoky wood, incense, and a crazy long, uber-complex finish – all without being heavy. It’s Manzone’s most elegant and approachable Barolo…and man! Downright sexy is the best way to describe it! Just wonderful integration and harmony. Harmony! That’s the ticket!!
