Wine Spectator called this a “brooding bruiser” and, well…they are basically DEAD ON with that. But 9 years have been kind to this particular bruiser — and based on this morning’s 750 ml bottle…it’s really entering that peak “Rocky 4” American hero phase in its journey!Â
This beast is both saturated and brooding, with dark chocolate and baked strawberries, then sweet red cherries, ripe raspberries, and this juicy, nutty character like a really, really good fruitcake (does that even exist?!). Welp, it does here — perfectly balanced with tart notes of orange peel, and lightly rum-soaked golden raisins, with dusty white pepper, and spicy hot cinnamon candies. This is SCREAMING for saucy, Kansas City style BBQ…and now I’m googling to see if I can ship out Arthur Bryant’s via the Belly App.Â
UNDER $80…for a MAGNUM of THIS?! How can it be? Beats me… I just pop the bottles they tell me to, and drink and tell stories until they unchain me from my desk and send me out to sleep behind the dumpster. Kidding, of course, but how we scored this epic deal — I can’t rightly say.
