Named for Conn Creek’s founders, Bill and Kathy Collins – this retro-styled, old-school elegance meets New World power and structure is flat-out rocking with its bad self. Normally $150 at the winery – we worked out a special deal that drops this singularly impressive bottling to UNDER $60!!! 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec – hailing from utterly PRIMO sites across Napa Valley – including a gorgeous hunk of Spring Mountain and Atlas Peak to give it that high-toned intensity, and never-ending structure. This timeless beauty (isn’t that new/old retro label just KILLER?,) the Roman aqueduct of new Napa, folks…built…to…LAST!!!
Vividly bright and percolatingly fresh – with these cool notes of spearmint and wild bay laurel, then this fruity upward lift of pomegranates, red raspberries, and Bing cherries. Over time, with some rigorous swirls of the glass, these black fruit notes of blackberries and black plums come to life, with wild woodland inflections of cedar and cinnamon, with a heady punch of clove. WOWZA! There’s an almost Mayacamas Vineyard idolization thing going on here – which I mean as the ultimate compliment! I’m grabbing a six pack to bury deep in my cellar…’cause like The Wine Independent's 96 POINT review proclaims, “This should be very long-lived!” At our unbeatable price?!
