Chateau Tendon Saint-Chinian 2018
Happy Sunday, good people of the Eastern U.S.! We got a special deal today – and NONE to be had for those poor folks on the wrong side of the Mississippi River (West coast gets another wine, but trust me...yours is way, way more hip...and an earth-shattering value, too)!
Looking for something light and breezy? TOO BAD! This is BIG, rich, and affable – with tongue-staining deliciousness sure to leave you smacking your lips for MORE! Only TWELVE DOLLARS!
OK, we’ve got THAT established, but here’s the meaty, toothy, uber-yummy cool part of the deal today – this you-won't-believe-how-awesome-it-is-for-twelve-bucks mini-Chateau is owned and made by the mad genius team at Chateau Negly (Google them, if you like, and be prepared to swoon at all the critical acclaim...). We continue to be gobsmacked, slack-jawed, and wicked fired-up about HOW they do it – simply everything they do from the $20s to the $200s is top-notch killer-diller.
SO – we chest-bumped when this hit the warehouse. Saint Chinian is in southern France, in the Languedoc-Roussillon (near Minervois), and has that killer Med climate (we all could use a bit of that right now) – the reds are powerful, dark, and crazy-deliciously round and rich. For THIS PRICE, we probably can’t think of a better deal anywhere, if you love Rhone reds – syrah and grenache perfection here at a seriously drink-with-abandon price!
Still reading? Ok...so, first, go throw something on the grill. Pop that bottle. Savor the nose of sweet, ripe, almost jammy strawberry, fig, and licorice-scented nose. On the first sip you get some rich, umami savoriness, then the black fruits come screaming back in. A bit of meaty pepper, lavender, anise...it’s outrageously rock-solid for TWELVE, that is so hard to type, $12 dollars!! Super-limited so stock up and drink this all through the spring!!!
While it lasts!
