Wow! World-class Saint-Émilion Grand Cru anyone?? With 96 POINTS and the same brain trust and winemaking team behind the we-can't-count-how-many-times-it-got-100-points Château Pavie? Wowza! In fact, starting with the 2022 vintage, this wine will no longer be produced and will be included in Chateau Pavie that sells for $400+! We got the Bordeaux today, oh yes...but only a handful of cases!
Pavie-Decesse is Château Pavie’s tiny (like UNDER 400 cases total) next-door neighbor in Saint-Émilion. While Château Pavie will easily run you $250 – $300, it’s often the case that Pavie-Decesse is every single bit as sexy, layered, and plush as its other, far larger production cousin. BOTH of these 2014s scored matching 96 POINTS from Vinous – and for hundreds less, this option from only a stone’s throw across a field is CLEARLY the one you want to score for your all-too-savvy Last Bottler cellar (or utility closet, crawl space under the bed… you know, whatever). Such a joy to drink (and cellar for easily another 20 years or so) that we bought as much as we could the moment we got the call (sadly, very little). You could, read me…COULD pay as much as $340+ for this bottle. But to score it for less than $120?! Screaming deal – provided your fast-twitch finger muscles are firing at full force this morning!Â
Oh, you DON’T like saving hundreds of dollars, you say? I got nothing for ya. But for you HARDCORE Bordeaux purists, and passionate collectors of all things ICONIC…y’all are gonna LOVE this! Dark, ruby opaque, with this inky and powerful expression of blueberries, and damson plums, with loads of kirsch, and elderberry, and this taut, grippy structure that swells with chalky minerality as only the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion can bring! HUZZAH!! A HUGE no-brainer for special occasion drinking and celebrating, and just this is EVERYTHING you'd expect from Bordeaux at this level. Ultra-concentrated creme de cassis, licorice, crushed rock, and that roasted Herbs de Provence vibe on the finish...utterly fantastic, completely memorable stuff!!! Over a decade in and the finish of this ageless wonder still goes on forever. Galloni called it out as “one of the most unctuous, powerful 2014s readers will come across…” – even going on to call it “a materially better wine” than the more famous Pavie. FOR HUNDREDS LESS!!! A beautiful, classy wine at a price that is just unbeatable. BUT MOVE FAST! We will probably sell out in hours or less....!
