Celler Vall Llach Embruix Priorat 2021

Celler Vall Llach Embruix Priorat 2021

Over 57% OFF on this 93 POINT beauty of Catalonia’s famed Priorat region. This is one of the OG producers of modern day Priorat, responsible for some of the region’s best wines!

Not just UNDER $20…way, WAY under $20! This ROCKS harder than Twisted Sister, in full drag-worthy regalia, getting pumped to belt out “We’re Not Gonna Take It” – which is to say...it rocks HARD. But first…confession time. Not two weeks ago, on a simply delectable offer of a Southern French red I likened to Priorat…I said “you just know you’re NEVER finding one of those for ONLY $17!!!”...and welp, here we are. Mea culpa, good people, mea culpa.

ONLY $15?! For high-scoring Priorat, and a top producer like Celler Vall Llach? Trully, it isn’t supposed to be possible! Never, in all my years and decades in the biz would I think we’d score this for such a fine price – seriously. Celler Vall Llach has some library bottles of their portfolio trading for over $320 each right now on the open market…these guys HOLD value over time like gorilla glue. Now, this may be their multiple plot bottling – but don’t think for a second that this won’t age for a decade plus! Young vines (meaning around 35 years old – their single plots blends get mostly 90-110 year old vines) give this a vibrant, expressive freshness, with a spellbinding allure of violet and lavender florals, with huge, and penetrating flavors of blackberries, and brandied cherries, raspberries, roasted herbs, nutty toasted hazelnuts, and a silky, long, and powerful finish that brings out mocha and a kiss of aged and sappy balsamic. Elements of wild fennel, wet slate, and graphite linger throughout, and a minty-fresh acidity keeps this beast just tame enough for casual, all-the-time sipping. It’s crazy complex – especially at such a ludicrously low price – and without question the BEST quality-for-value find I’ve ever seen out of Priorat!

93 POINTS! Only $15! Go, go, GOOOOOO!!!!

** One of the founders here, Lluis Llach, is Catalonia's most famous chansonnier – a poet-songwriter, who tells the stories of Catalan through a blend of spoken word, harmonic poetry, and a guitar. He doesn’t even drink alcohol anymore, but has kept this winery running because of the way it supports the local community of farmers in Porrera. **
