Organically farmed, cool climate, mountain fruit, from one of the prettiest vineyards in California, set up in the Santa Cruz Mountains, low intervention, old school know-how meets Cali sunshine, heaps of critical praise, and just epically DELICIOUS wines.Â
Was $63…but now?! And for the next, let’s say, ten minutes? How’s just $27 sound!!! Sounds about like a full 57+% OFF, doesn’t it? All for this 93 POINT stunner of a Pinot – cool, savory, mineral-tinged, yet loaded with that coastal purity of bright red berries and cherries, with inky blackberry coulis, and this uplifting element of wildflowers, all wrapped up in that silky, spicy, completely enthralling cool-climate pinot ambrosia…this is – as my Bostonian college mate would say – "wicked awesome". Bomber. 100% stem inclusion gives this spice, structure, and intensity – so get enough to lay some down!Â
Terraced and planted by French immigrants over 100 years ago – the Big Basin estate is in the running for the most immaculate and jaw-dropping vineyard in California – and that is some STIFF competition, folks. The wines here really should be more well-known, more expensive, more…everything.
